About 200 students of Hue University took part in a marathon to generate public support and influence policy makers for further investment in a quality healthcare system for children in Vietnam on 20th October 2013. The race organised by Save the Children and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy as part of Save the Children’s EVERY ONE campaign aimed at reaching the United Nations Millennium Development Goal 4 target of reducing preventable child deaths by two-thirds between 1990 and 2015.

Vi Thi Dong, a 16-month-old baby lives with her parents and older sister in the mountainous district of Thuong Xuan in Thanh Hoa province, home to many ethnic groups. For three years, her parents have been building a simple house for the family at the end of a small dirt road two kilometers from the health center. Traveling on this road is difficult when it rains.

Mothers Respond to Breastfeeding Week 2013 12 Sep 2013

Thousands of mothers participated in events to respond for the call of breastfeeding their babies in Vietnam as part of Global Breastfeeding Week 2013.

A series of events including advocacy and communications workshops, public gatherings and campaigns were held in project provinces by Save the Children’s consortium project Alive &Thrive in coordination with provincial authorities.

The purposes of the events aim to increase the awareness of breastfeeding importance by mothers and generate the public support to the breastfeeding promotion.
